Ruffle Tree Skirt

I am sorry to say I have no new pieces available just yet. But I have been working on a few custom orders I will post soon! This time of year is kind of busy, so I have not been working as much as I should! It might be a little selfish of me, But I have been working on some of the cutest Christmas decorations for my own house!

I would like to share, what I would like to think, as the most fabulous tree skirt known to man! Yes, it is the ruffle skirt from Pinterest, but mine is a little different... I used 2 colors! I will just show you some pictures from start to finish. I could not be happier with the finished product!
I started off by cutting my strips of fabric into 2" strips. I used an old red fabric I had in my scrap box and bought the burlap at Walmart for $2 something a yard. I used about 2 yards of each after it was done
I used my old tree skirt that I have had the past couple years and started glue gunning. No sewing involved!!!
Just start around the bottom and work your way up! It is not too hard just very time consuming.

Look how fabulous!

    1. Madorha, What I would do is use one of those cheap ugly dollar store skirts. It doesn't matter what it is right. Since it won't be seen.

    2. One could also use an inexpensive, round table cloth instead of an old tree skirt, as the base

  10. Thanks everyone! This was a really fun project!
MadorHa- You will need to have something to glue the strips to. A couple others I have made I just used an old piece of fabric and just cut it to the size and shape I wanted! Happy ruffling!!!

  13. love this!!! i actually started something similar last night but i might switch gears and make it look more like yours. i love the red with the burlap, mine was looking so boring even before i put it together, and i love how you "ruffled" everything without sewing. Ruffles scare me because i can never do it right on my sewing machine. thanks for sharing!

  14. oh, and can i ask what the approximate circumference is? i started mine last night just using plain old muslin, and the circumference is 36 inches, but yours looks bigger than that so i was wondering. thanks again!

  15. Anne, I know exactly how you feel. The thought of ruffles on a sewing machine scared me too! Mine is right around 56 inches!

  28. I am so not thinking about a tree skirt........I am thinking a skirt for me! I love ruffles!!!

  29. what did you use to glue it down? Seems like hot glue would take forever and be messy and all the fabric glue I've tried, each ruffle must be pinned down :( in order for it to have time to dry

  36. What kind of glue was used? I just bought the burlap and got it for 60% off at Joanne's!

  37. I used a glue gun! That's a great deal at Joann's!

  38. How long are the strips that you cut? If the strip ends up being too short to finish a ring, is it easy to start where you left off with a new strip without it being noticeable?

    ReplyDelete
  39. How do you get the ruffled effect?...Just pinch & glue? It seems like you would have to pin the ruffles in place to give them time to try.

  41. I have a 10.5 foot tree and it is has been impossible to find a tree skirt big enough for the base of the tree. This is absolutely wonderful, I can make it as big as I need it and the look is fabulous! Thank you so much for sharing your idea with everyone.

  44. I made one out of a Christmas vinyl table cloth. Just cut a circle out of the middle, and then cut a split from center hole to outer edge. Fold the edges over twice, and stitch in place. Last, I made 8 draw string kind of stitches to create a scalloped edge all the way around. Then I added a few Velcro pieces the the split to keep it together once around the tree. It turned out SOO cute!

  45. Very nice. It looks beautiful and I love the color combo too!

  46. Could someone please tell me how to make the ruffles?!!! Please!

  47. All you do is fold over the material and glue it down.

  53. I just love this! It is so beautiful! My problem is I have been wanting a larger tree skirt. They don't seem to make them as big as I would like, but you have inspired me. I'm thinking I could take an old King bedspread, tarp, or table cloth and either make it in to a circle or simplify it by making a square or rectangular skirt. I've see some for sale recently that were square, but again not as big as I would like. So thank you very much for the inspiration!!
